On the other side of the river Daugava you will find the area called Kipsala. Plan your time to have a walk along quiet cobbled streets of the area and you will enjoy the amazing Riga panorama view. In its turn the most characteristic Latvia event is the Midsummer Festival also know as Jāņi (Līgo vakars). This public holiday takes its place on 24th of June. There is always plenty of beer, food, singing and dancing. The St. John's Eve is celebrated all night long. Everyone jump over the bonfire, women were wreath made from season flowers and men (usually the ones whose name is Janis or John) were corolla made from oak-tree leaves.
